What is a farmers' market?
Farmers' markets can vary and it may be better to call our market a 'producers market' or even a 'community market', as not all traders have to be farmers! The key thing is that the person selling you the goods has produced them, so you are buying direct from the cook, grower, or farmer. This means that as a customer you can ask all about how the item was produced and what it contains. You may even be able to benefit from discounts or seasonal offers. Only small producers who live locally attend our market. We try to support countryside tradition, and usually include some craft stalls.
Our Committee
Eccleshall farmers' market is run as a non profit making community organisation and committee members are unpaid volunteers. Many other farmers' markets in Staffordshire and beyond are run by staff of the local authority.
Potential stallholder?
Stallholders need to agree to our rules, have their own public liability insurance (usually around £50 per year), and food producers need to be registered with their local authority (ie Stafford Borough Council).
